More Houses on the Market!
27th May 2010
Signs are emerging of an increase in activity in the housing market. According to a recent survey from Home Sale Network, a network of independent estate agents in England, Scotland and Wales, housing stock appears to be increasing quarter on quarter.
When asked whether respondents have seen an increase in the number of properties being put on the market in April compared to the first quarter of 2010, over half of respondents (61%) indicated that they had. This is welcome news for many buyers who have been unable to find a new home due to lack of available properties.
Commenting on the number of new buyer enquiries, respondents were almost equally divided with just under half (49%) reporting that there had been an increase despite the continued lack of mortgage availability and the ongoing economic climate, but 51% saying there had not.
Michael Arthan from Barbers, the member of Home Sale Network in Shropshire said, “It is encouraging to see that well over half of Network respondents have seen an increase in the number of properties being put on the market in April when compared to the beginning of the year making this a great time to buy a property.
“Although the economic climate has been a strong influence in the housing market this Spring, the economic stability our new Government pledges should have a positive influence on the housing market; encouraging more buyers and sellers to enter the market this Summer.”
